Skill Enhancement & Vocational Development Programmes — Academic Session 2023–25

Netaji Satabarshiki Mahavidyalaya is committed to enriching undergraduate education beyond the conventional syllabus through a series of structured Add-on Courses. These courses, offered by individual departments in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), blend academic learning with vocational training, field experience, and performing arts — preparing students for both higher education and self-reliant careers.

All Add-on Courses are offered free of charge and are designed to be 40-hour programmes conducted in offline or blended mode. Detailed brochures and course reports are available for download below.

Career Counselling Cell & IQAC — in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ashoknagar

Course Title: Freshwater Ornamental Aquarium Management & Care

A 40-hour vocational course designed to equip 2nd Semester students with practical skills in aquarium fish management, aquatic ecosystem maintenance, and self-employment opportunities in ornamental fisheries — conducted entirely free of charge. 71 students participated. Theory classes were held at NSM while practical sessions took place at KVK, Ashoknagar.

Department of Bengali — Value Added Course

Course Title: নাট্যশিল্প (Dramaturgy — Literature and the Performing Arts)

A 40-hour course for 3rd Semester students integrating theory of Indian and Western dramatic traditions with practical training in vocal expression, character acting, and stage improvisation. Students performed a play by Manaj Mitra at the Ashoknagar Utsab. Practical training was provided by Ms. Sangita Chakraborty of Natyamukh Natyadal, Ashoknagar.

Department of Geography

Course Title: Tools and Techniques in Geomorphic Studies: Practical Applications and Case Studies

A 40-hour blended learning programme for Geography (Honours) students covering geomorphological theory, GIS & GPS techniques, coastal landform analysis, and socio-economic field surveys. 23 students participated. The course included classroom sessions and a 3-day residential field training at Sagar Island and Ghoramara Island. Two external experts from Dum Dum Motijheel College and Sarojini Naidu College delivered special lectures under existing MOUs. Overall pass rate was 100%, with 82.6% of students achieving A/A+ grade.
