Under the supervision of the College Research Committee, the Local Area Research project, that is, the Ashoknagar Project, was completed with great care by the faculty members and students of the department. The Bengali Department conducted research on the topic “Ashoknagar: Shola Craft and the Land of the Survival of Artisans.”
Students are taken on educational tours every year. New students are welcomed through a freshers’ reception, and final-year students of the Bengali Department are given farewell receptions with best wishes for their future. Current students of the Bengali Department participate in various competitions both within the college and outside and win prizes. They also actively participate in various activities of the college NSS unit.

On 12th May 2023, a seminar was organized by the Department of Bengali of Netaji Satabarshiki Mahavidyalaya on the theme “Satyajit: In Remembrance and Reflection.” The programme was conducted with the cooperation of the Teacher-in-Charge of the college, the Internal Assessment Committee, all faculty members, students, and non-teaching staff. The formal inauguration of the discussion session began with a warm welcome, heartfelt greetings, and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The chief guests of the seminar were respected Professor Dr. Shams Al-Din and Dr. Nirmal Kumar Ghosh. The welcome address was delivered by the Teacher-in-Charge, Professor Milind Majumdar. This was followed by a speech from Dr. Papri Chakraborty, the Chief Coordinator of the Internal Assessment Committee. Before entering the main segment of the programme, the audience was treated to a refreshing musical interlude. The melodious flute performance by college student Raj Kundu captivated everyone. Through his remarkable performance, it felt as though we had momentarily journeyed into the world of Hirak Rajar Deshe. It goes without saying that the principal creative domain of Satyajit Ray was cinema, where he achieved worldwide fame, accomplishment, and recognition. Yet, when this creator entered the world of literature, he became equally unforgettable and unparalleled. Following this idea, the introductory lecture was delivered by Professor Basudha Biswas of the Bengali Department.Continuing the thread of her speech, the introduction of the distinguished speakers was conducted by Dr. Antara Chowdhury and Professor Krishna Mitra, both faculty members of the Bengali Department and joint conveners of the seminar. In the main session, Professor Shams Al-Din spoke on “The Multidimensional Satyajit,” while Professor Dr. Nirmal Kumar Ghosh presented a deeply intellectual discussion on “The Supernatural Satyajit.” Both lectures enriched the audience immensely. The most significant part of the seminar was the presentation of research papers. The participation of respected professors and researchers from other colleges, along with the students of the host institution, elevated the programme to a distinct level. This session was presided over by Professor Anindya Dey of the Department of Sociology, along with Dr. Nirmal Kumar Ghosh. At the end of the paper presentation session, the motivating and encouraging words of the presiding professors added further success to the event. Finally, the vote of thanks was delivered by the Head of the Bengali Department and the convenor of the seminar, Dr. Hena Biswas. The programme concluded with the song “Aha Ki Ananda Akashe Batashe” rendered by Professor Manasi Ghosh Dastidar of the Music Department. Yet, it felt as though the day had not truly ended—rather, it remained in our hearts as a beautiful and memorable gift. The entire programme was anchored by Professor Dr. Bidisha Mahato.
