Netaji Satabarshiki Mahavidyalaya

About the Department

The Department of Economics at Netaji Satabarshiki Mahavidyalaya started its journey in 2014 with a single faculty member, Shampa Ghosh. In 2016 , Susmita Bhattacharjee joined the department. At present , the department has two faculty member. After the CBCS curriculum, the NEP system has been implemented. Students enrolled in Geography Honours undertake Economics as minor subject. Additionally, Pure Pass students can opt for Economics, Geography, Mathematics combination and Economics, Geography, Education combination leading to a B.Sc. degree. Under NEP system college offers Economics as MDC and SEC subjects.

The department organizes syllabus- oriented educational tours to promote experiential learning. In addition to regular academic activities, add-on courses are conducted to enhance students’ knowledge and skills.

Recently, this college completed a research project focusing on the local area of Ashoknagar. The Department of Economics successfully carried out a research study on Jewellery Box Manufacturing at Ashoknagar. Students played a very important role in this project and the faculty members provided guidance throughout.
